Panorama Trail Hiking Stats. Distance: 4.9 km (3 miles) point-to-point. Elevation Loss: 200 meters, 650 feet (Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg) Difficulty: Easy. Length of Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes. When to Go: The trail is generally open from mid-June through October, depending on weather conditions and snowfall.
Leave Grindelwald following the "Kleiner Scheidegg" railway and climb directly below the Eiger north face up to the Kleiner Scheidegg. From the pass, head slightly downhill past the Wengernalp to Wengen. A short but steep climb down or a journey with the rack railway takes you to Lauterbrunnen, the stage destination.
And this can take several hours. First, you will have to get to Kleine Scheidegg or Eigergletscher. The final train to Jungfraujoch, called the Jungfraubahn, leaves from Kleine Scheidegg. If you are starting in Wengen, Lauterbrunnen, Mürren, or Gimmelwald, you will take the train to Kleine Scheidegg.

Visiting the Sphinx Observatory is one of the best things to do in Luaterbrunnen, but it comes with a price tag. You can review the various tour packages here. Getting to Sphinx Observatory from Lauterbrunnen takes about 2 hours via train/cable car. The Sphinx Observatory is a UNESCO World heritage site. #5.
Murren is a small village and Wengen is a larger village. Murren gets my nod for hiking and intimacy. Wengen gets the nod for a larger variety of hotels, restaurants, galleries, sights to see, and somewhat easier travel back to Lauterbrunnen. If hiking is a high priority, Murren is definitely best. In general, I think Murren is somewhere

If you choose to end your day at the restaurant, to return to your hotel, walk back to Kleine Scheidegg and take the train to Grindelwald, Wengen, or Lauterbrunnen. Optional: Hike the Panorama Trail The Panorama Trail is a 3-mile point-to-point hike that connects Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg.
Ending Point: Top of Mannlichen. Distance: 0.8 miles / 1.2 km. Duration: 40 minutes. Elevation Gain: +262 feet / +80 meters. As you can tell, this is definitely on the shorter and easier side of hiking options. The route should take about 25 minutes to get up and another 15 or so minutes to get down.
Add at least one more night. Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald are both beautiful, with Grindewald being the town where the most tour buses drop the most touristssome are daytrippers and some will stay the night. Avoid Grindelwald and choose either Lauterbrunnen or the better option of either Murren or Wengen.
Hi spbl1nd, Welcome to MySwissAlps. Yes, combining a trip to Jungfraujoch and Grindelwald First in one day is certainly possible. If you plan to do a lot of adventure activities on Grindelwald First, I suggest taking the earliest train to Jungfraujoch and make your way down before lunch time. From Lauterbrunnen, I suggest taking the following
Lauterbrunnen is closer for Murren, Grindelwald, First and Schilthorn. Depends if you want to stay in a beautiful vertical cliff valley complete with waterfalls, or an alpine village that has a fantastic view of the same beautiful valley. Travel times are really only about 15 minutes difference (the time it takes from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen).
5. This view from Saint Bernard’s Church in Wengen. Wengen is a pretty town perched above Lauterbrunnen, which means inevitably it has some excellent views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley to offer. My personal favourite is the view from the Evangelisch Reformierte Kirche Wengen.
Easy/Moderate — The easiest option is to walk downhill from Mürren to Gimmelwald. The trail is wide and paved, but there are some switchbacks and it’s a steady uphill incline coming from Gimmelwald. Allow one hour if hiking uphill from Gimmelwald to Mürren, or 45 minutes when hiking downhill from Mürren to Gimmelwald.
