Sigma: The Sigma 18-50mm is extremely compact for a lens with a constant f/2.8. At 285g it is not much heavier than a Fujifilm f2 prime lens and less than the Fuji 18-55mm. This makes it a great lens for street photographer but can also be used for events. The knock that I had on the Fuji 18-55 is the maximum aperture at F4 on the telephoto. The compact Fuji XF 50mm f/2 WR lens is a nifty little portrait prime for the X Series system. For one thing, it fills a noticeable gap in Fuji's lens lineup: the affordable 50mm (75mm eq.) prime Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR (Smallest Fuji Lens for X-E4) Fujinon XF 50mm f/2 R WR Lens (Sharpest lens for Fuji X-E4) Fujinon XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS (Best Video Lens for Fuji X-E4) Honorable Mentions. Fujinon XC 35mm f/2 (Best Budget Prime Lens for Fuji X-E4) Fujifilm XF 18mm f/2.0. This is an inexpensive, mostly plastic 35mm (50mm equivalent) f/2 lens for use on Fuji's X-mount APS-C cameras. It's super light and super-sharp, and has the same optical performance (and possibly exactly the same optics) as the twice-as-expensive all-metal XF 35mm f/2. It's a great idea as a take-everywhere normal lens. I got my XC 35mm f/2 at This short video puts the 56mm f/1.2 alongside the more recently released 50mm f/1.0 to see how they compare when shooting portraits using natural light. We Review the Fujinon XF 30mm f/2.8 LM Weighing in at 285 g the lens contains 13 elements in 10 groups, with an 18-50mm zoom range equating to 27-75mm in full-frame 35mm. The decision to make it an f/2.8 lens meant it would be even more compact and it is in fact the most compact of the above-mentioned lenses. They are indeed sticking to F/1, but the focal length has been extended from 33mm to 50mm. There are exactly two reasons for this; size, and weight. When Fuji announced the XF 33mm F1 WR, I envisioned a lens about the size and weight of the XF 56mm F1.2. Early mockups of the XF 33mm F1 WR were already much larger, in around XF 90mm F2 WR
The Fuji 50mm f/2 uses an internal-focusing system powered by a stepper motor drive mechanism, which results in generally fast and silent AF performance. The XF 50mm f/2 R WR is another solid effort from Fujifilm. The lens fits in wonderfully with the other recent f/2 prime lenses, providing very good optical quality in a very compact, yet robustly constructed body. While I feel that the more expensive 56mm f/1.2 is still going to be the lens that most will want when looking for a fast short
Again, if shooting portraits is your thing, the 56mm might be preferable in this regard. Sigma lenses in general are modern lens designs, and tend to deliver sharp images with rich colors and high contrast. The C (Contemporary lenses) aren't as sharp as Sigma's legendary Art lenses, but they still deliver nice crisp images.
When it comes to bokeh, the Fuji XF 50mm f/1 delivers delicious and unmistakable bokeh, especially wide open at f/1. If anything, the bokeh formations improve just by narrowing the aperture a little towards f/2. Backgrounds are creamy with a beautiful soft swirl of blurriness that fades into the distance.
